Under The Sea by Monika Colic

Features

ARTIST NOTES: Mixed media piece combining ceramics, glass and metal.

Inspired by the swirly spiral of the operculum found on the Mornington Peninsula, this eye catching bowl was sculpted from white porcelaneous clay. It has a subtle lace texture on the underside. Glazed from inside and outside with food safe clear glaze. Bottom of the bowl is left unglazed. Fired twice in an electric kiln, at temperatures up to 1220C.

The bowl was broken into pieces to be assembled again using lead free metal solder in Tiffany style and added a locally found sea glass as an eye catching inlay detail.

Truly unique conversation starter piece that fits into modern coastal homes.
