ARTIST BIO

Melbourne based, Jeffrey Kelson is a retired architect who teaches portrait painting to private students and at leading schools. His method is easily mastered by those with little painting experience. His aim is to paint sympathetic and personal portraits that honour each individual and reflect their unique personality and life force.

Jeffrey paints portraits on commission and his fees are very reasonable.

Jeffrey held two portrait exhibitions of Holocaust Survivors as a way of contributing his skills to record their stories. He has painted volunteers of the Cabrini hospital, which was exhibited in the foyer there and more recently 40 portraits of Hall of Fame athletes. He has also exhibited in galleries around Melbourne and enters the Archibald each year.

As well as portraiture Jeffrey loves to paint landscape and works in watercolour and mixed media.

His works can be seen at www.jeffreykelson.com

Following a diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer I have embarked on abstracts of life affirming CELEBRATIONS. The works are mixed media on canvas with a predominance of collages in including grouping of a variety of collage images and torn papers. The flow of life is prevalent over a number of idiomatic windows of my life's experiences. This and the other abstract works I am currently creating are intended to celebrate life as an optimistic statement despite my diagnosis.
