ARTIST BIO

Choosing to create harmony and balance in my life, I use photography as a meditative process. By staying focused behind the lens, all distractions fade away, allowing me freedom to consciously create my own internal landscape. Feeling at peace immersed in nature, I find much inspiration from my local coastal environment. I find stillness, a sense of calm that brings clarity as I focus, compose and capture the image, before I bring my vision to life on my digital canvas.

BIOGRAPHY

Spending her childhood on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Liza has lived in Bayside Melbourne for many years. Having studied art and design she also worked in the printing industry as a graphic designer. Always aspiring to be an artist, inspiration came from the work of William Turner and Jeffery Smart. In 2008 she followed her dream, exploring the art of photography, completing her Advanced Diploma of Photography with an Art Specialisation in 2011.

Since 2011 Liza has regularly exhibited her photographic art and received numerous awards and accolades, achieved through years of dedication to her work. In 2018 Liza was named The AIPP Victorian Landscape Photographer of the Year and she has also been recognised as a Master of Photography by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. To date, Liza’s greatest achievement is her own recognition of the freedom she finds, whilst focused behind the lens, as a photographic artist.

CREATIVE PROCESS

Using photography as a meditative process allows me to clear the clutter from my mind. Whilst behind the lens I slow down and stay focused, letting go of all the worries of the world, bringing me back to the present moment. In this moment I feel calm and composed with clarity of mind. I am free, as I release the shutter, with a clear focus, to bring forth my vision of the world as I see it, the world which I choose to consciously create.

It is through photography I have found my voice. As a photographic artist, freedom of expression is paramount, photoshop an important tool that allows me to create authentic emotive works of art that are truly a reflection of who I am. With my camera I capture the light, colour and magic of the moment. With photoshop, I work with the light, colour and magic to manifest that which I felt in the moment.

Printing my work is when the magic really happens. To create a beautiful print is an art unto itself, one that has taken me many years to master. With much experience in the print industry, I’m passionate about crafting my own beautiful pieces of photographic art. Many hours can be spent perfecting an image and many test prints produced, ensuring every detail is just right, before I print my final work of art onto beautiful archival cotton rag paper. Using professional Epson large format printers and pigment inks ensures I create archival quality works of art designed to last for generations to come.

Taking great pride in the final presentation, I choose to print and frame my own work when feasible with a meticulous attention to detail. Production of larger works I only entrust to industry leading professional photography labs.

Grateful for the opportunity to share my work with you, this final step in my creative process brings me the greatest joy, thank you!
